I have gone ahead and broken adjustable dumbbells into weight class and company class, as shown below.

Bowflex SelectTech 52.5 Pound 552 Adjustable Dumbbells

A few weeks back, I told you about Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells. Today, I wanted to take the time to go ahead and review the Bowflex SelectTech 52.5 Pound 552 Adjustable Dumbbells.

1) Introduction to detailed review: In this detailed review, I want to go over the description, features, reviews, ratings, and my final recommendations. Before we jump into this review, I want you to also be aware of the other 50 pound adjustable dumbbells. (I realize these are 52.5 pounds, but they're one of a kind, so I wanted to show you something comparable.)

1a) Description and Features:

The Bowflex SelectTech 52.5 Pound 552 Adjustable Dumbbells are red and black. Although they're somewhat on the bulky side, (compared to Powerblock), they definitely beat out having multiple sets of dumbbells laying around.

What I like about Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells is their features. The ability to easily adjust weight amount in 2.5 pound increments with a dial, is extremely easy, quick, and useful. It's great for people running programs like P90X.

1b) Reviews and Ratings:

There were a total of 145 recorded ratings on Amazon. I will now take the time to show you the rating breakdown:

  • 5 stars: 90 ratings
  • 4 stars: 31 ratings
  • 3 stars: 4 ratings
  • 2 stars: 7 ratings
  • 1 star: 13 ratings

According to reviewers who gave this product a low rating, the Bowflex dumbbells were "defective," "dangerous," and "fragile." And when you have multiple people reporting similar issues, you just may have a problem.

1c) Recommendation:

As you all already know, I am a huge fan of the Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells. However, if you're seriously considering Bowflex, be aware of the reviews here. They totally turned me in another direction, from the very beginning. Note: It's not like all of the reviews were bad, but there were just enough bad reviews to turn me away.

Aside from those issues, I have used the Bowflex dumbbells, and to me, they seem stable. I don't remember them clanking or having any real issues. If you're seriously considering dumbbells, I can definitely recommend these. Just be aware of what you're purchasing, by reading the reviews on Amazon, and other websites.

Powerblock Stand

Although the Powerblock Stand is not a necessary piece of equipment, it does have it's perks, compared to if you set your Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells on the ground. In this short review, I am going to give you an overview of the Powerblock stand, along with why I think it's beneficial to you and your Powerblocks. Again, the stand is NOT necessary. If you're short on cash, don't sweat it!

Description and Features:

The Powerblock Stand is extremely compact. As you already know, there are 5 different Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells that I am aware of. I'm not sure if there are specific stands for specific dumbbells, or there is a universal stand for all. I would assume that this single stand works for all Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells, but I am not completely sure.

The modern design is very attractive to the eye, and goes well with the design of the Powerblock Dumbbells.

Although there was only 1 customer review for this item on Amazon, the reviewer did give this product a 5 out of 5 star rating.

Benefits of the Stand:

There are two real benefits to having the Powerblock Stand. The biggest benefit is the fact that you don't have to bend all the way over to ground level to adjust weight amount. Also, weight amount is easier to adjust on a flat surface. Finally, the stand allows for storage, and likely will make it so you don't have to place your dumbbells on the ground.

Recommendation:

If you don't mind having your Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells on the ground or another surface you have already available, then I wouldn't sweat getting the stand. I've had my set for about 5 months now. I've been using them and storing them on the ground with no problem.

If you have the money, feel free to purchase the stand, as it will provide you with some decent benefits. For me though, those benefits just aren't worth the cost.

Powerblock Elite 90 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells

Finally, it's time to review the Powerblock Elite 90 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells. The Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells usually rate as the best set on the market, and the 90 pound pair is by far my favorite. However, it's also the most expensive.

1) Introduction To Detailed Review: For this review, I want to leave you with as much information as I possibly can. I wan to hook you up with the descriptions and features, reviews and ratings, and finally, my final recommendations. You should also know that I have this item listed under the 90 pound adjustable dumbbells weight class. Be sure to checkout the rest of what that weight class has to offer.

1a) Descriptions and Features:

The Powerblock Elite 90 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells can adjust in increments of 5 pounds, with a selector pin that allows you to easily adjust weight amount. The lowest possible weight amount is 5 pounds, and the highest possible weight amount is 90 pounds.

More compact than the Bowflex Dumbbells, this solid piece of equipment comes with a limited 10-year warranty, which is completely unheard of.

1b) Reviews and Ratings:

Reviews and ratings can always change, but currently, there are a total of 11 customer reviews on Amazon. 10 reviewers gave these dumbbells a 5 out of 5 star rating, and 1 reviewer gave them a 4 out of 5 star rating.

One individual said that changing weight amount in less than 10 pound increments was difficult. This same individual also complained of the funky design.

1c) Recommendation:

Although these are the heaviest adjustable dumbbells on the market, I can't say that I recommend them. It seems that changing weight amount in anything less than 10 pounds can be difficult, or at the least, time consuming. From what I can see, the selector pin allows you to adjust weight amount in 10 pound increments. If you want to adjust weight in 5 pound increments, I believe you have to remove a 5 pound piece. Feel free to comment below and correct me if I am mistaken.

Overall, I give the Powerblock Elite 90 dumbbells a 4 out of 5 star rating. Sure, this rating is lower than the ratings of previous Powerblock Dumbbells that I have reviewed, but that's because lower weighted dumbbells made by Powerblock can easily adjust in 5 pound increments. That's not to say that this set of dumbbells isn't a good set, but instead, it's just not one that I can fully recommend.

Powerblock Personal Plus 60 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells

I'm almost done reviewing all of the available Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells. This is an extremely sad moment. :( Currently, I have the Powerblock Personal Plus 60 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells listed under an non-categorized topic. I will definitely have these in a category towards the end of this month.

1) Introduction to Detailed Review: I want to go ahead and break this detailed review down into a few different categories. I want to go ahead and talk to you about the description and features, reviews and ratings, before finally giving you my personal recommendation.

1a) Description and Features:

These dumbbells have the ability to adjust weight amount between 20 and 60 pounds, in 5 pound increments. Weight amount is displayed on the front of these dumbbells in pounds, and seems to be displayed in kilograms as well.

Weight selection can be made with a selector pin, which you slide out and then slide back into the weight amount that you would like to use.

Although these are quite heavy; 60 pound per hand, they are extremely sleek and compact. Highly recommended for home gyms, and small rooms, where little space is available.

1b) Reviews and Ratings:

I am never surprised by the ratings that the Powerblocks receive. And yes, this is definitely a good thing. Based off of the 4 customer reviews that were available, an average 4.5 out of 5 star rating was shown. Here was the rating breakdown:

  • 5 Star Rating: 2 Reviewers
  • 4 Star Rating: 2 Reviewers
  • 3 Star Rating: N/A
  • 2 Star Rating: N/A
  • 1 Star Rating: N/A

From what I saw, most people were extremely satisfied with these dumbbells. One person did a great job at listing some pros and cons. On the downside, this reviewer said that these dumbbells did clank while lifting. This individual also stated that inserting the selector pin while changing weight amount, could sometimes be difficult. Aside from these downsides, people said that the dumbbells worked extremely well. They were also happy to see that this product is made in the USA.

1c) Recommendation:

This is another great set of Powerblock dumbbells. There's really no doubt about that. To me though, these 60 pound weights are kind of an oddball. Personally, I would simply go small or go big. I purchased 50 pound weights and was just fine. If I ever upgrade, I will definitely be looking at some 90 pound adjustable dumbbells.

Regardless, I rate these a 4.5 out of 5 stars. If you think 60 pound weights are right for you, then you definitely can't go wrong with the Powerblock Personal Plus 60 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells.

Powerblock Personal Trainer 50 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells

The Powerblock Personal Trainer 50 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells is actually what I own. This product is listed under the 50 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells category. This review is going to be totally unbiased. As a bonus, I have gone ahead and added the video review that I did for this product last month. Before I show you the video, which will be shown shortly, let's discuss the layout of this review.

1) Introduction To Detailed Review: As I have already said, I will be showing a video bonus just after this paragraph. After this bonus, I will discuss the description and features, reviews and ratings, and finally, my personal recommendation.

Bonus Video Review:

1a) Description and Features:

This sleek pair of adjustable dumbbells will look great anywhere. Best of all, they're extremely small, and are even able to fit on some small bookshelves. A stand for the set is also available, but not necessary.

Weight adjustments can be made in increments of 2.5 pounds. The lowest available weight for these dumbbells is 2.5 pounds, and the highest available weight is 50 pounds. A cool little feature is the pounds to kilograms conversion or kilograms to pounds conversion, listed on the front-bottom of each dumbbell.

To select adjust weights, you simply remove the selector pin from the dumbbell, and slide it back in to the weight amount of your liking. Corresponding colors let you know when you're selecting the correct amount of weight.

1b) Reviews and Ratings:

Why am I not surprised? This set of dumbbells actually received extremely high ratings on Amazon. Based off of 14 reviews, this set of dumbbells received an average 4.5 out of 5 star rating, with no rating lower than 4 stars. Customers were extremely satisfied with these dumbbells.

1c) Recommendation:

The Powerblock 50 pound adjustable dumbbells are truly a great piece of equipment. I have been told that they have a 10-year-warrant, which is pretty much unheard of, these days. Furthermore, they seem to be extremely durable.

I have two main gripes with these dumbbells: 1. It's sometimes difficult to select 45 and 50 pounds of weight, while adjusting on a carpet or floor surface. 2. Sometimes, I accidentally insert the pin into more than one slot, or I select more than one weight slot. This is a user error, but still, it is a flaw in these dumbbells.

Aside from these two problems, this is really a great piece of equipment. I personally rate it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. PS: I am a 160 pound man, and have quickly outgrown these dumbbells on some exercises. If you have an extremely strong back, you may want to think about upgrading to something that offers you more weight. While you're here, be sure to check out the rest of the Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells.

Powerblock Classic 45 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells

I now want to go ahead and take the time to give you a detailed review on the Powerblock Classic 45 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells. Currently, I have these listed under the 50 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells category, due to the lack of choices in the 45 pound category. However, this category is subject to change.

1) Introduction To Detailed Review: In this detailed review, I will be giving you as much information as possible. I realize that this information may be redundant, because Powerblock Dumbbells are each created in a similar way, but it's still good to be able to tell the differences. In this review, I will discuss description and features, reviews and ratings, along with my ratings and recommendations. I hope this post really helps you out!

1a) Description and Features:

The Powerblock Classic 45 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells are extremely popular amongst their brand. In fact, the shape and the look of these Powerblocks will probably have most people saying, "I've seen those before." With a sleek and trim square design, these dumbbells will fit almost anywhere.

Weight adjustments can be made in 5 pound increments, from 5 pounds to 45 pounds. Adjustments can be made with a selector pin. Corresponding colors on the top of the block let you know your weight in pounds and in kilograms. A 10-year limited warranty is also available.

1b) Reviews and Ratings:

Although reviews and ratings are subject to change, they're currently at 50 customer reviews, and average a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. The review breakdown is as follows:

  • 5 Star: 35 ratings
  • 4 Star: 14 ratings
  • 3 Star: 1 ratings
  • 2 Star: 0 ratings
  • 1 Star: 0 ratings

As shown in the ratings, everyone was extremely satisfied with this product. One person did complain of their bulkiness, but I'm not quite sure why. This same individual said that changing weight amount on soft surfaces can be difficult. (I've had problems selecting the lower two bars before too.) But this problem can be fixed by purchasing the stand. Again, the stand is not necessary, but can help. Aside from this review, people were pretty happy with their Powerblock Classic 45's.

1c) Recommendation:

Great reviews and ratings are always a plus. Although one person had some complaints, don't let it sway you from purchasing this set of dumbbells. Unless you're looking to purchase something that weighs a little more, the Powerblock Classic 45 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells are highly recommended on my list. In fact, I rate them 5 out of 5 stars. Although you can run into some problems while sliding the pin into the higher weight range, this problem can be solved by laying these dumbbells on a flat - hard surface; Even cardboard. By the way, be sure to check out the rest of the Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells.

Powerblock Sportblock 24 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells

It's finally time to begin the specific company and weight class product reviews! Today, I am reviewing the Powerblock Sportblock 24 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells, which I placed into the 25 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells category. If you're not following my blog, I have been giving brief reviews of basically all of the dumbbells on the market. Now it's time to go in depth. If you don't get enough information from us: The Adjustable Dumbbells Store, then you will probably never get enough information to make a purchase.

1) Introduction to Detailed Review: As I said, this is my first true detailed review of one specific product. I hope to give you as much information in this review as possible. For that to happen, in this review, I will discuss product description and features, reviews and ratings, and finally, I will give you my overall ratings and recommendations.

1a) Description and Features:

The Powerblock Sportblock 24 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells are designed with a sleek throwback look. Featuring old-styled colors, top rounded weights, and extremely small dimensions, these dumbbells will look and fit great almost anywhere.

Weight can be adjusted between 3 and 24 pounds, in increments of 3 pounds. A selector pin let's you select the amount of weight you would like to use, and a color coder let's you easily choose the correct amount of weight.

These dumbbells are extremely well-balanced. Best of all, they feature an unheard of 10-year-warranty. This shows that Powerblock is extremely confident in the durability of their dumbbells.

If you're curious, these dumbbells will replace 8 pairs of dumbbells that would have a weight total of 216 pounds. Let's face it, these dumbbells are definitely room-savers.

1b) Reviews and Ratings:

At the time I wrote this article, these dumbbells had 36 reviews, and average a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. Here is the review breakdown:

  • 5 Star: 26 ratings
  • 4 Star: 7 ratings
  • 3 Star: 2 ratings
  • 2 Star: 0 ratings
  • 1 Star: 1 rating

To begin, the 1 rating of 1 star came from a person who complained of shipping damages. Aside from this problem, most people agreed that this was a great set of dumbbells to have. One individual complained of the product not being high enough quality, and another person complained of the selector pin sometimes selecting two amounts of weight, (which is a problem that all of the Powerblock Dumbbells have.)

1c) Ratings and Recommendations

If you're looking for adjustable dumbbells ranging from 3 - 24 pounds, that go up in increments of 3 pounds, then the Powerblock Sportblock 24 Pound Adjustable Dumbbells are a great choice for you.

I have a pair of Powerblocks myself, and they work extremely well. I give this set of dumbbells a 4.5 out of 5 stars, simply because changing weight amount can sometimes be a little difficult, especially on a carpet surface. Don't forget to check out the rest of the Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells.

Lifesmart Adjustable Dumbbells

The Lifesmart Adjustable Dumbbell system is extremely similar to the Lifecore Dumbbells. In fact, they're so similar that I wouldn't be surprised if they were both branches of the same company. Although it is a definite possibility that someone could incorrectly named this item on Amazon, I doubt this possibility, because each brand is searched for on Google.

1) Introduction To Short Reviews: In the reviews below, I will be talking about the Lifesmart Adjustable Dumbbells. Currently, I am only aware of one set of dumbbells that this company has created. I want to go ahead and list some of the features offered by this system, along with my recommendations. Note: This is only a brief review. Larger reviews will be posted on weight specific pages. I'll link to these pages below the short reviews, once they are available.

1a) Lifesmart Adjustable 5- to 55-Pound Dumbbells

These 5 to 55 pound dumbbells can be adjusted in weight increments of 5 pounds. Weight adjustments are possible because of a slide-and-lock system, which resides on the top part of the weights. Finally, these dumbbells are made out of commercial-grade cast iron plates. The price for this set is definitely low, currently listed at under $300.00 on Amazon. *Price subject to change. One reviewer gave this system a 4 out of 5 star rating, saying that they were extremely pleased with the dumbbells, but wished they were made out of better materials.

For me, it's quite difficult to give you a recommendation based off of one reviewer's experience. I would definitely like to see more reviews. On the plus side, the one reviewer did seem to like the dumbbells. He said they worked quite well, and that he had no difficulty adjusting weight amount. If you're willing to take a risk, feel free to purchase these. If not, I would wait for there to be more reviews, or maybe look at the similar but different Lifecore Adjustable Dumbbells. Also, be sure to see other adjustable dumbbells by list of companies.

Lifecore Adjustable Dumbbells

The Lifecore Adjustable Dumbbells generally go unheard of. There's not a lot of information about these dumbbells on the net, so I really wanted to create a page that would exclusively review the dumbbells. Currently, Lifecore has two pairs of adjustable dumbbells on the market. This page is going to offer you with a short burst of information about each pair.

1) Introduction To Short Reviews: For each review below, I am going to hook you up with some of the features offered by each dumbbell, along with my short recommendation. I highly recommend checking out Amazon for more information, after reading the short reviews below.

1a) Lifecore Corebell 5- to 30-Pound Adjustable Dumbbell System with Stand

This Lifecore Adjustable Dumbbell has many great features. Most notably to me was the ability to adjust weight amount in 2.5 pound increments. Weight amount is adjustable between 5 - 30 pounds, and can be changed through use of a sliding pin. Comfortable grips and a nice storage stand are definitely positives. On the downside, 4 total reviews on Amazon gave this set of dumbbells an average rating of 1.5 out of 5 stars. People complained of the dumbbells not working. Others complained that adjusting weight amount was difficult.

I am no expert here, but out of the 4 reviews that I saw, nobody was really happy with these dumbbells. Sure, they look sleek, smooth, and easy to use, but when you have consistently similar reviews across the board, there has to be a problem with your product. Hopefully, the next pair I am about to review has received better ratings.

1b) Lifecore Corebell 5-55-Pound Adjustable Dumbbell System with Stand

For starters, these actually received a healthy rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Weight is adjustable between 5 and 55 pounds, in 2.5 pound increments. A sliding pin is used to adjust weight amount. Comfortable grips, and a slide and lock system which holds weights into place are great features. To get back to the ratings, only 1 person out of 9 gave this product a 1 star rating. 5 out of 9 gave it a 5 out of 5 star rating. That's not too shabby at all.

Many people actually seemed to be pretty happy with these dumbbells. It's crazy how you can have the same company create two different pairs of dumbbells, and have really bad reviews on one of the pairs. Maybe the 5 to 30 pound set has some sort of technical issue, but the 55 pound dumbbells on the other hand, I can actually recommend. Also, be sure to see other adjustable dumbbells by list of companies.

Reebok Adjustable Dumbbells

In this short article, I am going to talk to you about the Reebok Adjustable Dumbbells. These are not well-known or really ever discussed, so hopefully I can provide you with a recommendation by the end of this article.

1) Introduction To Short Reviews: In this short review, (currently because Reebok only produces one set of dumbbells), I plan on summarizing the features, description, and ratings this dumbbell received on Amazon. Also, I would like to give you my opinion, as well.

1a) Reebok Speed Pac 25-Pound Adjustable Dumbbells:

If you're looking at these dumbbells, you may be considering purchasing them because of the low price. That, or maybe you have faith in the Reebok company. Regardless, these adjustable dumbbells weigh 25 pounds a piece. Weight adjustments can be made in increments of 2.5 pounds,* although one reviewer noted that he could only make weight adjustments of 5 pounds. Weight can drop all the way down to 2.5 pounds,* but only 5 pounds if the reviewer on Amazon was correct. Finally, a slide pin is used to adjust weight amount. Overall, the Reebok Adjustable Dumbbells received an average 3 out of 5 star rating on Amazon. Many people said that these were 'ok' dumbbells.

Although you may be looking at these dumbbells thinking that you're going to get a good deal, always remember that you will get what you pay for. The fact that these use a slide pin to change weight, is an extreme downside. I've had a pair of dumbbells like this, and the slide pin tends to get stuck quite often. I do not recommend purchasing these dumbbells, unless you're okay with clanking weights that sometimes make weight adjustments difficult a task in itself. I give these dumbbells a 2 out of 5. Also, be sure to see other adjustable dumbbells by list of companies.
